About Destefano Studio

Chelle Destefano, a Deaf artist resides in Adelaide, Australia and she is a well known international exhibiting artist. Chelle has exhibited throughout Europe, recently having solo exhibitions in Paris, Venice and the UK.

Her works feature whimsical themes and more serious tones.

Chelle: I decided to turn my art into things that people would enjoy after my friend Harry one night in early 2015 said "I would really like that artwork (mysterious moon) and that artwork (rainbow gesso) on tshirts! I had not thought of this before and straight away I jumped on the computer to research!

There were so many options and many printers, but back in early 2015, it was a bit limited. Funnily, six months later I found more printers were starting up businesses around Australia and the world. I settled on a printer that was affordable and the quality seemed good.

Harry would be my first tester. I got the tshirts printed after conferring with Harry about colours of tshirts that were available at an affordable price and the sizes. Little did I know it would be a learning experience finding the best printers. Harry received her tshirts and was very excited she took photos of herself wearing them as she stood outside in a garden!

After that, people were asking for my artworks on tshirts and soon another printer made available all-over tshirts at reasonable prices which was exciting! The all-over tshirts were very popular, especially in the Volksy, Blue Ghosts and some of the Wait of the World themes.

I was surprised to find the Blue Moon Cemetery one to be the most popular with High Tea I and Astrological Clock both a close second.

I decided to expand to include hoodies (which are quite expensive, so these are limited) and limited edition prints on rag paper, mugs, cushions, coasters (and soon placemates), colouring books, magnets, snow domes, and much more. I will be including doona covers with pillow covers in the collection this year soon!
